Caro’s Questions

1. You favourite friendship from a book?

I’m trying to think of something. I just finished The Keeper Of Lost Things and loved the friendship between the characters Eunice and Bomber. Legolas and Gimli? I can’t think of a favourite, sorry.

2. What is the longest book you’ve read this year so far?

A Dance of Dragons: Dreams and Dust by George R. R. Martin

3. Which trope do you dislike the most?

Either The Chosen One because it’s been done to death. Or if there’s a trope for the cliched character who’s family has died and they have to discover who they are-that!

4. List your top three favorite movies

This is hard because I can never pick favourite movies.

The Lord of The Rings

Les Miserable (I love the music)

Pirates of the Carribean

5. Paperback, hardcover or ebook?

I prefer to read a paperback but I love the look of hardbacks, there’s some lovely clothbound ones. And I’ve seen some gorgeous hardbacks. I used to always prefer a Kindle- you can drink tea and read easier with the Kindle in one hand and the book in the other- but it must’ve been a phase as I’ve discovered a new love of hardbacks and lovely book covers.

6. If you could visit one book setting which setting would it be?

I think I’d like to go to Middleearth, this is a hard question because I’ve never really thought about it.

7. Who is your favorite author?

Just one? I have various authors I follow: Deborah Harkness, James Herbert, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Elizabeth Kostova, Jesse Burton,,, and many others

8. If you were given a $50 gift card to your local bookstore, what books would you buy?

I’ve been thinking of getting the Midnight, Texas books so maybe them, Clothbound classics!  They look so good even though I have some already in hardback and/or paperback. Tom Hank’s book- why not? I’m sure I’ll think of something else as soon as I’ve done this post.

9. What’s your favorite thing to do apart from reading and blogging?

I’m a writer and I’m working on an urban fantasy novel I hope to actually finish this time. I have a lot of unfinished short stories that I keep saying I will finish and do something with but there’s hardly any time to fit everything in.

10. What made you decide to start blogging?

I’d been reviewing books for a while, mainly ARCs from Lovereading.co.uk reader’s panel, back in 2014 I think. Then I found Netgalley and started a blog so I could publish my  book reviews. I like the idea of sharing books and helping authors get noticed – not sure if my blog will help but I like to try. I’ve now discovered a massive online community of bloggers too which is great 🙂 I love to share my love of books!

11. How do you feel about books being adapted to series/movies?

I get scared that they will change too much or that they will cut my favourite bits. I’m learning with the production of Discovery Of Witches tv series to let go and not worry. But I’m not a fan of the movie adaptations of Classic books like: Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre, I prefer the tv series as the pacing is much better.
