The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Award 2018

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately so no books to review, but I’m going to work on updating my blog pages and work on some new posts.

But I was nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by Kate Carter, a lovely lady who blogs at The Tustin Girl  her blog is all about helping people.

The 4 Rules:

  1. Thank blogger (s) who nominated you for the blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo in your post and / or blog!

So here’s the answers to the questions I was asked:

  1. Why did you start your blog?

I was reviewing books for the website Lovereading as part of a review panel for some time before I decided to start blogging. I started on blogger but it was a while before I really got into it. I can’t remember the why exactly. It might’ve been because I found Netgalley, which gave me access to so many ebooks in exchange for an honest review.

I also loved the idea of sharing my thoughts about books and helping to get these books noticed.  I moved to WordPress last year and since then I’ve realised how much I enjoy blogging. It’s connected me to so many other bloggers too.

  2. What is your favourite way to unwind and relax?

Sometimes I find it really hard to relax. My favourite way is to read a good book but if I’m not in the mood I love watching films or catching up with the many tv series I’ve started. For me the best way to really unwind is to do some yoga, it’s like a moving meditation and it helps to let go of anything that is bugging you or just relax those tight muscles.

  3. What would your ideal job be?

I’ve always wanted to be a published writer although I see it more of a career than a job.

  4. What is your favourite film and why?

This is a hard one, I have a lot of films that I love and watch again and again. If I had to pick one it would be The Lord Of The Rings (although technically that’s three) I seen all when they first come out and then went and read all the books. I remember being there until midnight watching The Return Of The King and the queue was massive! I had them on VHS! Now I have the extended edition on dvd (have to get blu-ray one day) I never get tired of watching it, amazing story, characters and the bits of humour. I try not to watch it on tv though I’ve just realised that they cut bits!!! How dare they!

  5. Which option would you pick between having a good, stable job with a good pay or doing something you love for very little money?

I thought this would be a hard question but my own experience of work makes it easy. I‘d rather do something that I love than have a job just for the money.  A teacher told me once that if you love your job that you never work a day in your life. For me it’s more that if I was doing something for the love it would make me feel so happy and that I am achieving something. Working just for the money may not leave you happy, and for me at least it’s all about being happy and feeling fulfilled. I’ve worked in retail since I left school, if I didn’t need the money I wouldn’t be there, who would really? If it wasn’t for my amazing and fun colleagues I’d probably not like my job  (customers are lovely sometimes but.. it has it’s moments) I always feel like retail is somewhere I ended up not somewhere that I chose to be but that’s a whole other story.

  6. Where would you most love to live and why?

Tenby in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. I have always said that I’d love to life here although I wonder if the novelty would wear of. This is the place I spent more of my childhood holidays, the place we’d visit every Easter Sunday. It’s a lovely seaside town, it’s only downside is everyone loves it and it’s so popular it can very busy and hard to find a place for peace and quiet. But it’s like a home from home and it always makes me happy to visit Tenby. I’d move there now if it wasn’t so far from my family- my Dad says I’m like a homing pidgeon 🙂

  7. What is your biggest fear?

I don’t really know how to answer this question. When you suffer a bereavement you always fear losing those you love. But this is a normal fear that everyone has. My biggest fears are based on irrational thinking or a fear of failure when it comes to my writing, a fear that it will never be good enough.

  8. What has been your biggest struggle, to date, with your blog?

Finding the time to post and to finish books in order to review them. It’s hard to fit it in with work and my own writing goals as well as spending time with loved ones. I’ve trying not to put pressure on myself but to learn to blog when I can and write posts in advance so if I don’t have time I have something to post.

  9. Which quality do you admire most in people and why?

I admire people who work hard to get what they want in life and don’t let anything get in their way. People who are not afraid to go out there and get out of their comfort zone. I also admire people who no matter how hard life knocks them down they always have a smile on their face, I know someone like this (probably most of the people I work with) and she makes me wish that I didn’t find it so hard to be that happy myself. I wish I was less of a misery guts sometimes haha.

  10. Which famous person (alive or dead) would you most like to be like and why

I’d love to have the talent of my favourite authors who make perfect immersive writing seem so effortless.

  11. What is your goal for 2018?

To finish the first draft of the novel I’m writing.

I’d like to nominate the following bloggers:

Rachel B

  1. Oh thank you so much for the tag!! I’ve actually been hoping to be tagged for something so this is great.😂 Also I’d LOVE to visit Wales someday…it looks gorgeous. (Fun fact: the state I’m in right now is New South Wales in Australia haha.) I also hope you get to finish your book this year. It’s always such a great feeling to finish something. 😍

    1. Thanks for commenting I love your blog 😊 makes me so happy that you commented. I live in South Wales about an hour and a half from Tenby I’m lucky I live that close as there’s so many beautiful places in the UK( Dorset and Cornwall). You should visit Wales if you get a chance. I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to go to Australia (plane and stresss of travel never been out of UK) but everyone seems to friendly. So much more laid back than here 😁
